Lane College Student Highlights

Lane College students presented at the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology annual meeting at Experimental Biology in Orlando, Florida.

  • Science Club students, Ryan Billings, Alexis Craft, Keviyanah Gilmore, and Aliah Harris presented their 3D model of the Myocobacterium tuberculosis MazF-mt6 toxin protein highlighting the secondary structure and catalytic residues in the active site.
  • Ryan Billings, Science Club President, received a travel award from the ASBMB Student Chapters to attend the conference.
  • Joanna Hobson presented her poster describing the Science Club activities at Lincoln Elementary at the Experimental Biology Outreach Poster session. Joanna also received a Ph.D. fellowship in Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of Alabama Birmingham beginning in July 2019.
  • Danielle Spencer, freshman, presented her poster describing the annotation of genes in a 70,000 bp region of the Drosophila takahashii Dot chromosome.
