Dr. Bill Miller currently teaches ecology and environmental biology, biological chemistry, scientific writing, and seminar at Lane College, Jackson, Tennessee. Bill Miller, Ph.D., is a retired agricultural research scientist, Lilly Research Laboratories and Dow Chemical Company. He earned B.S. and M.S degrees in plant and soil science with minors in animal science from Tennessee State University in Nashville. He earned a Ph.D. degree in plant and soil science with a minor in chemistry from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
While at the University of Tennessee, he studied the relationship between total soil nitrogen and the percentage available for plant growth. He has published approximately one hundred scientific papers in various research journals. In addition, he has published two nonfiction books and occasionally writes for an online magazine.
